University of New Mexico men’s basketball head coach Ritchie McKay announced the remaining game times and broadcast schedule for the 2006-07 men’s basketball season today. The Lobos will play a total of 19 games on television, the most regular season televised games since UNM had 20 in the 1992-93 season. Four of the Lobos’ games will also broadcast nationally, the highest number since 2001-02.

“This is the benefit of the move to CSTV and the mtn.,” stated McKay. “CSTV and the mtn.’s name recognition are and I am excited about it. Of all of the years I have been here, we are anticipating this to be one of our most exciting seasons.”

Television coverage of Lobo men’s basketball games for the 2006-07 season is unprecedented. CSTV is available nationally while the mtn. is currently shown on cable systems in New Mexico, Colorado, Utah, Wyoming and Idaho. Additionally, the Mountain West Conference is continuing negotiations with cable distributors in the San Diego, Las Vegas and Fort Worth markets, plus satellite carriers DirecTV and Dish Network.

UNM opens the season on Nov. 10 at 7:00 p.m. (M.S.T.) against Abilene Christian as a part of celebrating the 40th Anniversary of The Pit. ACU was New Mexico’s first opponent in The Pit back on Dec. 1, 1966. The Abilene Christian game will feature throwback jerseys and other festivities commemorating the 40th anniversary of one of college basketball’s most famous arenas.

The Lobos’ first game on the mtn. is against Sacramento State on Nov. 12 at 1:00 p.m. (M.S.T.). The four nationally televised games are at UTEP (Dec. 3), Wyoming (Jan. 30) and at Colorado State (Feb. 3) on CSTV and at Texas Tech (Jan. 1) on ESPN2.
