Lobos End Season at NCAA West Regional

TUCSON, Ariz. – The New Mexico men’s golf team fell short of the top-10 and a berth in the NCAA Championship, as they finish tied for 12th at the NCAA West Regional in Tucson, Ariz. The Lobos posted a final round 5-under par, 283 and was 6-under par (290-285-283=858) for the tournament on the par-72, 7,200-yard OMNI Tucson National Golf Course. The overall lead was shared by Arizona and Florida at 37-under par. The top-10 teams at the NCAA West Regional shot 13-under par or better.

Individually UNM was led in the final round by senior Jay Choi with a 5-under par 67. Choi moved up the leader board to finish at 7-under par and just out of qualifying as an individual. Other New Mexico results were junior Charlie Beljan finished at 3-under par (74-68-71=213), freshman Steve Saunders finished even par (72-70-74=216), senior Mark Anderson finished 7-over par (76-76-71=223) and freshman Nick Geyer was 11-over par (73-80-74=227)

Medalist honors were shared by Billy Horschel of Florida and Casey Watabu of Nevada at 13-under par.
