New Mexico Moves Up to 15th After Two Rounds

TUCSON, Ariz. – The Lobo men’s golf team is currently 15th after two rounds of play at the NCAA West Regional in Tucson, Ariz. The Lobos posted a second round 3-under par, 285 and is now 1-under par (290-285=575) for the tournament on the par-72, 7,200-yard OMNI Tucson National Golf Course. The overall lead belongs to Arizona at 24-under par, 3-strokes in front of Florida and North Carolina State. The top-10 teams from the regional advance to the NCAA Championship.

Individually UNM was led today by junior Charlie Beljan who carded a second round 4-under par 68. Beljan is now 2-under par (74-68=142) for the tournament and is tied for 38th. Other New Mexico results were senior Jay Choi (71-71=142) and freshman Steve Saunders (72-70=142) are tied with Beljan at 2-under par tied for 38th, senior Mark Anderson is 8-over par (76-76=152) tied for 115th and freshman Nick Geyer is tied for 125th at 9-over par (73-80=153)

Dustin Primm of Utah continues to hold the individual lead at 10-under par, one-stroke in front of Nathan Spoon of North Carolina State.

The NCAA West Regional concludes tomorrow with tee times beginning at 8:00 a.m. (MDT) and the Lobos beginning at 9:05 a.m. (MDT). Full results of the NCAA West Regional can be found on the Golfstat website at www.golfstat.com.
