Lobos Tied for 18th At NCAA West Regional

TUCSON, Ariz. – The UNM men’s golf team is currently tied for 18th after the first round of play at the NCAA West Regional in Tucson, Ariz. The Lobos carded an opening round 2-over par, 290 on the par-72, 7,200 yard OMNI Tucson National Golf Course. The overall lead belongs to Florida at 15-under par, 6-strokes in front of Arizona. The top-10 teams from the regional advance to the NCAA Championship.

Individually UNM was led by senior Jay Choi at 1-under par. Choi’s 71 put him in a tie for 38th. Other Lobo results were freshman Steve Saunders is tied for 51st at even par, freshman Nick Geyer is tied for 70th at 1-over par, junior Charlie Beljan is tied for 83rd at 2-over par and senior Mark Anderson is tied for 114th at 4-over par.

The individual lead is held by Dustin Primm of Utah at 6-under par and he leads four other individuals by one-stroke.

The NCAA West Regional continues tomorrow with tee times beginning at 8:00 a.m. (MDT), with the Lobos beginning at 9:05 a.m. (MDT). Full results of the NCAA West Regional can be found on the Golfstat website at www.golfstat.com.
