Bend, Ore. – The Mountain West Conference announced its 2006 men’s golf all-conference team and individual awards at the conclusion of its championship today at the Crosswater Course at Sunriver Resort in Bend, Ore. New Mexico senior Jay Choi was the only UNM player selected to the all-conference team. BYU junior Jake Ellison was selected as player of the year, while UNLV’s Seung-su Han was named freshman of the year. Coach of the year honors went to Bruce Brockbank of BYU.
Choi won medalist honors at the MWC Championship to guarantee an all-conference selection. Choi this season won two tournaments (National Invitational and MWC Championship). He finished in the top-20 in nine out of the 10 tournaments he played in and finished in the top-10 four times.
The Lobos will return to action on May 18-20 at the NCAA Regionals.
