BEND, Ore. – The Lobo men’s golf team is alone in first place after two rounds of play at the MWC Championships. The Lobos posted a 5-under par 283 in the second round on the par-72, 7,630 yard Crosswater Course at Sunriver Resort in Bend, Oregon, and is now 9-under par (284-283=567) for the tournament. UNM has a seven-stroke lead over San Diego State, who shot the low round of the tournament today with a 280, going into the final round.

Individually, junior Charlie Beljan led the Lobos today. Beljan rebounded from a first round 75 to shoot a 4-under par 68 in the second round and is 1-under par for the tournament. Beljan also moved from a tie for 22nd to a tie for sixth. Senior Jay Choi is the top overall player for UNM as he is one-stroke off the lead. Choi shot a 2-under par 70 in the second round and is 2-under par (72-70=142) for the tournament tied for second. Other individual New Mexico results were senior Mark Anderson is tied for second at 1-under (71-73=144) and freshmen Nick Geyer (71-73=144) and Steve Saunders (70-74=144) are tied for 12th at even par.

The individual lead belongs to Drew Stoltz at 3-under par, one-stroke in front of four players.
