BEND, Ore. – The University of New Mexico men’s golf team is currently tied for the lead with BYU after one round of play at the MWC Championships. The Lobos carded a 4-under par 284 on the par-72, 7,630 yard Crosswater Course at Sunriver Resort in Bend, Oregon. UNM is looking for their fourth straight MWC title.

Individually the Lobos were led by freshman Steve Saunders who is one-stroke off the lead. Saunders opened with a 2-under par 70 good for a tie for second. Other UNM results were senior Mark Anderson and freshman Nick Geyer are tied for sixth at 1-under par, senior Jay Choi is tied for 11th at even par and junior Charlie Beljan is tied for 22nd at 3-over par.

The individual lead belongs to Clay Ogden of BYU at 3-under par, one-stroke in front of four players.

The Mountain West Conference Championships will continue tomorrow with 18-holes of play beginning with tee-times starting at 10 a.m. (MST). Full results and live scoring can be found on the Golfstat website at www.golfstat.com.
