ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The University of New Mexico men’s golf team will head to Bend, Oregon, to try and bring home their fourth straight MWC Championship. The Lobos are the three-time defending champions and have finished in the top two for four straight years. The MWC Championships will be 54-holes, with 18-holes played each day, with tee times beginning at 10:00 a.m.(mst) Thursday-Saturday . Traveling to the championships along with Coach Glen Millican will be seniors Jay Choi and Mark Anderson, junior Charlie Beljan and freshmen Steve Saunders and Nick Geyer.

THE COURSE: The MWC Championships will be played at the 7,630 yard par-72 Crosswater Course at Sunriver Resort in Bend, Ore. This course will also be home to the NCAA Championships.

RESULTS: The results can be found on the University of New Mexico website at www.golobos.com or live stats will be available at www.golfstatresults.com.

CHOI LEADS LOBOS: Senior Jay Choi is currently ranked 39th by the Golfweek/Sagarin Performance Index. Choi this season has a 73.00 stroke average and has finished in the top-20 in eight of nine tournaments, including medalist honors at the National Invitational. Choi also went 2-1 in match play at the Hooters Match Play Championship, losing to the number one player Pablo Martin 4 and 2.

BEND SUCCESS: The Lobos have had a lot of success at the Crosswater Course in Bend, Oregon. Not only has UNM won three consecutive MWC Championships there, but have finished second and fourth at the other two championships played there. New Mexico also played in the prestigious NCAA Preview field and finished ninth among 15 of the top teams in the country. Although the Lobos have only had one individual title at the Crosswater Course the team success has been outstanding.
