SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – The Lobo men’s junior varsity golf team finished tied for third at the Wyoming Cowboy Classic in Scottsdale, Arizona. New Mexico finished at 6-over par (282-287-277=846) on the par-70, 7,133 yard Talking Stick North Course. The team title went to New Mexico State at 4-under par, three strokes in front of Western Kentucky.

UNM was led by freshman junior Charlie Beljan who finished tied for fifth at 1-under par (72-69-68=209). Other Lobo results were freshman Dan Saltz tied for 11th at 1-over par (69-72-70=211), freshman Guillermo Chavez tied for 43rd at 6-over par (72-76-68=216), senior Mark Anderson tied for 55th at 8-over par (75-72-71=218) and freshman Jacob Lestishen tied for 70th at 11-over par (69-74-78=221).

Medalist honors went to Danny Bowen of New Mexico State, who defeated his teammate Ben Kreger in a playoff. Both players finished at 5-under par.

The Wyoming Cowboy Classic was the final tournament of the season for the junior varsity. The varsity team will be in action on April 17-19 at the Aggie Invitational.
