TUCSON, Ariz. – Senior Jay Choi led the University of New Mexico men’s golf team to a tie for sixth after two rounds at the National Invitational Tournament. UNM shot a second round 7-over par, 295 to move to 1-over par for the tournament on the par-72, 7,148 yard OMNI Tucson National Golf Course. The team lead belongs to UCLA at 14-under par, two-strokes in front of Arizona State.

Choi shot a second round 2-under par 70 to move to 5-under, one-stroke off the lead. Other Lobo results were freshman Nick Geyer is tied for 37th at 1-over par (72-73), freshman Steve Saunders is tied for 49th at 2-over par (70-76), sophomore Robb Bierbaum is tied for 62nd at 6-over par (74-76), junior Charlie Beljan is tied for 65th at 7-over par (71-80) and freshman Travis Reid, playing as an individual, is tied for 29th at even par (73-71).

The individual lead belongs to Alejandro Canizares of Arizona State at 6-under par and leads a group of three, including Choi, by one-stroke.,The final round of the National Invitational Tournament is tomorrow morning. For full results and live scoring go to www.golfstat.com.
