TUCSON, Ariz. – The University of New Mexico men’s golf team is currently fourth at the National Invitational Tournament in Tucson, Arizona. The Lobos carded a 6-under par 282 on the par-72, 7,148 yard OMNI Tucson National Golf Course. The team lead belongs to UCLA at 11-under par, one-stroke in front of Arizona State.

UNM was led in the first round by senior Jay Choi who fired a three under par, 69. Choi is currently tied for eighth. Other New Mexico results were freshman Steve Saunders is tied for 17th at 2-under par, junior Charlie Beljan is tied for 20th at 1-under par, freshman Nick Geyer is tied for 30th at even par, sophomore Robb Bierbaum is tied for 48th at 2-over par and freshman Travis Reid, playing as an individual, is tied for 39th at 1-over par.

The individual lead belongs to Erik Flores of UCLA at 7-under par and is two-strokes in front of two others.
