ALBUQUERQUE – The University of New Mexico men’s tennis team extended their winning streak to three as they trounced Northern Arizona 7-0 today at the UNM Tennis Complex. The win bettered the Lobos record to 8-4 in 2006 as they move another weekend closer to the Mountain West Conference slate of Matches. New Mexico is an impressive 18-0 all time now against the Lumberjacks.

UNM again got great results from the No. 1 doubles position with No. 40 Max Jones and Kamil Pajkowski improving their record to 10-1 in dual matches and 12-1 overall. The freshman duo of Miles Bugby and Johnny Parkes defeated Gareth Ducray and Jeffrey Morys at No. 2 doubles 8-4, while Eric Conklin and Graeme Kassautzki handled Kyle Thieme and Casey Ross at No. 3 8-6. The sweep of Doubles play is the second in as many matches for New Mexico and it was all downhill from there.

In singles action the Lobos didn’t let up as Parkes, Jones, Kassautzki, and Pajkowski all handled their Lumberjack counterparts 6-3, 6-2 at positions one thru four. Chandler Brass Easily downed Christian Tener at No. 6 6-1, 6-2, while Senior Conklin defeated Ross in an exciting match 6-1, 4-6, 6-1 to seal the sweep.

UNM will return to the court next week when they travel to Las Cruces to take on in state rival NMSU. The match is scheduled to take place on Saturday April 1st at 11 a.m.
