Point of InterestThis is UNM’s first trip outside of the Continental United States since it played at Hawaii in 2002.Looking at the LobosNew Mexico is 5-4 overall going into a March 13 match against Hawaii. The Lobos played their last seven matches at home after beginning the season with a road loss to Arizona and a neutral-site win over Montana State in Tucson. Most recently, they dropped a6-1 decision to Colorado State on March 4. Sophomore Max Jones holds down the No. 1 singles position for the Lobos, while freshman Johnny Parkesplays at No. 2. Alan Dils is in his 10th season as New Mexico head coach.

A Look At The Rainbow WarriorsHawaii enters the March 13 match at 3-3. Prior to taking on the Lobos, Hawaii last played on Feb. 4. The Warriors began the season with three straight road losses to San Francisco, Santa Clara and Stanford. They rebounded with home wins over Loyola Marymount, Hawaii-Hilo and GustavusAdolphus. John Nelson is in his first season as Hawaii head coach.

Purdue at a glanceNo. 70 Purdue is 5-6 overall and 1-2 in the Big Ten. The Boilermakers are coming off a hard-fought 6-1 loss to Illinois, the second-ranked team in the nation. Purdue is coached by Tim Madden. Purdue last recordeda neutral-site win on March 1, 2003, when they beat Oregon 5-2 in Seattle, Wash.

A look at NavyNavy is 8-4 on the year and comes ino the March 16 match in the middle of a four match road trip. Prior to playing the Lobos Navy took on BYU-Hawaii and lost 7-0. The Midies are coached by John Officer. UNM and Navy will serve it up on the US naval base at Pearl Harbor at 1 p.m.

Tremedous at No. 1Through the first nine matches of 2006 the Lobos are 8-1 at No. 1 doubles good for a .888 winning percentage.

Lobos In the RankingsDespite losing for the first time this season sophomores Max Jones and Kamil Pajowski remained nationally ranked by the ITA in doubles at No. 43.The duo is an impressive 10-1 in 2005-06 including an 8-1 record in the spring.

Whats on tapFollowing the week in Hawaii UNM will return home to play host to Northern Arizona. The match is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Saturday March 25 at the UNM Tennis Complex.
