Fresno, Calif. – The No. 37 New Mexico women’s tennis team suffers its second loss of the season against No. 35 Fresno State today, bringing the Lobo’s season record to 8-2.

New Mexico earned the first point of the day after dominating the doubles matches. The now 2nd ranked team in the nation of Iva Gersic and Maja Kovacek had a strong win at the No. 1 doubles spot defeating the 6th ranked team of Katharina Winterhalter and Lucia Sainz 8-5. At the No. 2 spot the duo of Lucy Scott and Ola Abou-Zekry came from behind to also win 8-5.

In singles action Fresno State rallied a strong comeback against the Lobos. No. 28 Kovacek had a hard loss against No. 18 Melanie Gloria 6-2, 6-1 at the No. 1 singles spot. Scott earned a tough win at the No. 5 singles spot against Tinesta Rowe, 6-1, 3-6, 6-2.

The Lobos will be in action again Wednesday, March 15 against No. 70 Sacramento State at 10 a.m. in an away match.
