LAS VEGAS, Nev. – The University of New Mexico men’s golf team finished 12th at the Southern Highlands Collegiate in Las Vegas, Nev., today. The Lobos shot a third round 320 on the 7,510 yard, par-72 Southern Highlands Golf Club and was 66-over par (316-294-320=930) for the tournament. UNLV won the event with a two-over par 819.
UNM was led in the third round by sophomore Robb Bierbaum, who shot a 5-over par 77 today. Bierbaum finished tied for 20th at 11-over par (77-73-77=227) for the tournament. Other Lobo results were sophomore junior Charlie Beljan who ended tied for tied for 36th at +15 (80-69-82=231), freshman Travis Reid tied for 57th at 19-over par (78-78-79=235), freshman Steve Saunders tied for 66th at 21-over par (81-74-82=237), and senior Jay Choi who finished 78th at 33-over par (81-81-87=249).
Medalists honors went to UNLV’s Matt Kisinger who finished with a 2-under par 214 (76-69-69=214).
The Lobos return to action at the Hall of Fame Invitational in Houston, Texas, on March 17.
