Kris Monaghan, a former University of New Mexico All-American and 15-year LPGA Tour player, is headed to Beijing, China in March to become the first LPGA Golf Professional at “Central Golf Beijing.”

This will be the largest indoor golf facility in the world that includes a driving range, instruction studios, video and analysis equipment, putting green and sand trap, restaurant, spa, cigar room and more. Monaghan has been hired to live and teach in Beijing for one year by John Jacobs’ Golf Schools Asia through the Scottsdale Golf Group.

“Having been selected by John Jacobs Golf Schools to help bring the game of golf to people in China is a thrill and honor,” says Monaghan. “I look forward to traveling as an Ambassador to China and promoting the game that has brought me a career full of wonderful experiences. Living and working in Beijing will be an opportunity of a lifetime as well as a tremendous challenge. I believe this will prove to be one of the greatest experiences of my life, and I feel so very fortunate to be going over there to teach golf.”

Monaghan traveled the world as an LPGA Tour Member from 1985-1999, claiming two championship victories on the LPGA Tour in the early `90’s. The Los Alamos, N.M., was a two-time NCAA All-America at the University of New Mexico and the 1980 New Mexico State Amateur Champion.

After leaving the LPGA Tour in 2000, Monaghan completed her Bachelor of Arts degree in Recreational Management at Eastern Washington University, while teaching and coaching golf in Spokane, Wash. She worked at PGA West in La Quinta, Calif., and was the Golf Professional at Taos Country Club in Taos, N.M., in 2005. For more details about Central Golf, please visit www.centralgolf.com.hk.
