SCHOFIELD BARRACKS, HAWAII – The University of New Mexico men’s golf team is currently tied for sixth after one round at the John Burns Intercollegiate. The Lobos shot a 9-under par 279 on the par-73, 6,917-yard Leilehua Golf Course in Schofield Barracks, Hawaii. The overall lead belongs to Auburn at 15-under par and leads Arizona by two strokes.
Individually UNM was led by senior Jay Choi and freshman Steve Saunders as they each shot a three under par 69 to tie for 16th. Other Lobo results were senior Mark Anderson is tied for 27th at 2-under par, junior Charlie Beljan is tied for 39th at 1-under par, freshman Travis Reid is tied for 55th at even par and Nick Geyer, playing as an individual is tied for 55th at even.
The individual lead belongs to Brett Lederer of Long Beach State at 7-under par and leads two players by one stroke.
The John Burns Intercollegiate continues tomorrow with 18-holes of play at the Leilehua Golf Course with a shotgun start at 10:30 a.m. MST.
