ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The University of New Mexico women’s swimming & diving team was defeated by UNLV today, 133-95, in the final dual meet of the regular season at the Seidler Natatorium. The Lobos recognized the four Lobo seniors, Robyn Miller, Kelsey Leckovic, Heather Morsilli and Cassidy Lespreance, which made it for an emotional final home meet.
Junior diver Carrie Quinn placed first on the 1-meter springboard with a final score of 284.85 and second on the 3-meter springboard finishing with a score of 259.80. Sophomore Tiffany Blackstone took third on the 3-meter board with a final score of 253.57.
Senior Robyn Miller was the first Lobo to finish in the 400-yard individual medley giving her third place and a time of 4:38.66. Freshman Kristen Naber placed second in the 200-yard freestyle, turning in a final time of 2:01.62. Junior Jenna Syverson came in third in the 50-yard free and was a part of the third place 200-yard medley relay team along with junior Jen Hale, sophomore Andrea Zarins and Miller. Sophomore Tori Clarridge also swam to a third place finish in the 100-yard backstroke clocking in a final time of 1:00.19.
Syverson, Clarridge, senior Kelsey Leckovic and junior Kelly Soldow made up the team that finished second in the 200-yard free relay to end the meet.
“It was another good meet that puts us one step closer to conference,” head coach Tracy Ljone said. “I think we are ready to taper and swim fast at conference.”
The Lobos will now have over a month preparation before they travel to the Mountain West Conference Championships in Oklahoma City, Okla. Feb. 22-25. Times are TBA.
