ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The University of New Mexico women’s swimming & diving team heads into its final two dual meets of the regular season at home this weekend Feb. 3 and Feb. 4. These two meets mark the last home meets in the Seidler Natatorium for four Lobo seniors. Seniors Robyn Miller, Heather Morsilli, Kelsey Leckovic and Cassidy Lespreance each will leave a lasting impression at UNM.

Miller has held top times and records every year of her career and has been honored on the Mountain West Conference first and second teams every year as well.

“Robyn is the best female swimmer that UNM has seen,” head coach Tracy Ljone said. “She currently holds six school records which will most likely stand for a long time and has placed in the top three at the Mountain West Conference Championships for the last three years. Robyn leads by example, she always gives 100 percent in practice and at meets. Robyn has definitely left her mark here at UNM.”

Morsilli was named Mountain West Scholar Athlete for maintaining a 3.5 or better in college and has been honored on the MWC All-Academic team the past three years. Morsilli also has made a mark on the UNM top times in several events such as the 100-and 200-yard breaststroke and the 400-yard individual medley

“Heather has been a fantastic captain and role model this past year,” Ljone said. “She gives 110 percent at each practice and will race anyone. She has been a motivational leader here at UNM and the team looks up to Heather with the utmost respect. Heather is a joy to coach and will be missed by both coaches and athletes.”

Leckovic currently holds three school records in the freestyle relays and has been honored on both the first and second All-MWC team.

“Kelsey is one of our silent leaders,” Ljone said. “She leads by example. She works hard in and out of the water. She is a dependable swimmer that we have been able to rely on when it counts and for relays. Kelsey has had a great four years here at UNM.”

Lespreance currently holds the top time, this season, for UNM in the 1000- and 1650-yard free and the second best top time in the 500-yard free.

“We were lucky enough to grab Cassidy when the University of Louisiana Monroe discontinued their program,” Ljone said. “I can’t imagine transferring for my senior year of college but Cassidy has done a great job. She has worked hard and she is ready to swim fast at conference. We are thankful that she came to UNM and hopes she has enjoyed her one year stint here.”

See these four swimmers in action Friday, Feb. 3 at 6 p.m. in the Seidler Natatorium when the Lobos compete against the Horned Frogs of TCU. Saturday Feb. 4 is Senior Day when the Lobos will take on the Rebels of UNLV. Competition will begin at 2 p.m.
