TUCSON, Ariz. – The University of New Mexico men’s golf team moved up one spot to finish fourth at the 16-team PING Arizona Intercollegiate. The Lobos finished at 4-under par 848 (280-281-287) on the par-71, 6,793 yard Tucson National Golf Course. BYU took the team title at 18-under par, nine strokes better than Arizona and Arizona State.
Individually UNM was led by senior Jay Choi who tied for seventh at 4-under par (66-70-73=209). Freshman Steve Saunders also finished in the top-20 for the first time in his career tied for 12th at 1-under par (70-71-71=212). Other Lobo results are senior Mark Anderson tied for 21st at 2-over par (72-70-73=215), freshman Nick Geyer tied for 26th at 3-over par (72-70-74=216), junior Charlie Beljan tied for 54th at 10-over par (79-74-70=223), freshman Travis Reid tied for 26th at 3-over par (75-68-73=215) playing as an individual and freshman Daniel Saltz tied for 87th at 34-over par (82-79-86=247) also playing as an individual.
The individual title was still being decided between Henry Liaw of Arizona and Alejandro Canizares of Arizona State, who are on their fourth playoff hole.
