COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado (Ticker) – Dionne Marsh scored 21 points to lead 18th-ranked New Mexico to a 59-54 victory over Air Force in Mountain West Conference play.
Brandi Kimble added 11 points and three steals for the Lobos (14-4, 4-1 Mountain West), who knocked down 17 free throws in the second half while playing stellar defense down the stretch.
Trailing, 52-47, with less than four minutes remaining, New Mexico scored 12 consecutive points to take control of the contest.
Marsh scored seven points during the decisive surge and Kimble converted a pair of free throws with 23 seconds remaining to cap the run.
Alecia Steele and reserve Dawn Higginbotham scored 12 points apiece for Air Force (10-7, 1-5), which has dropped four straight and fell to 1-18 all-time against New Mexico.
The Lobos shot just 38 percent (18-of-48) from the floor but went 20-of-29 from the line to offset their poor offensive performance. Conversely, the Falcons attempted just four free throws in the entire contest.
