New Mexico improves to 9-2 while New Mexico State drops to 2-7…this was the Lobos’ first game since Dec. 10 and they don’t play again until Dec. 30 when Oklahoma comes to The Pit The Lobos have now defeated NMSU 19 straight times, including 10 in a row in Las Cruces It’s believed to be the first triple-overtime game in school history…UNM’s last OT game was March 22, 2003, a91-85 win over Miami (Fla.) in the first round of the NCAA Tournament in The Pit…the last double OT affair was Feb.24, 1996, an 84-74 win over Wyoming in Albuquerque There were 10 ties and 13 lead changes in the second half The Lobos’ 23 points in the first half is the lowest total of any half this season…the previous low was 25 in the second half against Cal, a game UNM won 55-46 New Mexico led 2-0, but did not get its next lead until early in the second half after a Dionne Marsh bucket made it 30-28…the Lobos’ largest deficit was 9 on three occasions, the last time 16-7 UNM used a 9-0 run to take a 51-42 advantage, but the Aggies came back to score the last five points of regulation to tie it at 56-all Sophomore Dionne Marsh recorded her 1st double-double of the season and 4th of her career with season-highs for points (26) and rebounds (10)…the rebound total tied a career high…Marsh scored 21 points in the second half, including 10 in the overtime periods Junior Katie Montgomery played all but one minute (54 of55) in the 3-OT thriller, finishing with 15 points…she scored 9 points in the overtimes Senior Abbie Letz had her 2nd straight double-double, 3rd of the season and 4th of her career with 14 points and 10 rebounds Sophomore Brandi Kimble scored 11 of her 13 points after halftime
