Head Coach Ritchie McKay
Opening Statement:
“I thought our team played the reputation in the paper. I was a little disappointed we couldn’t put this game away, but I understand it. Part of it was my fault, playing so many guys and substituting so sporadically. I don’t think we got a rhythm. I wanted to try to rest guys because this is our fourth game in 11 games. We haven’t had that much practice time in between games. I’m glad we won. I think there is some good you can take from it. I also think Alcorn did a great job. I complement them on their play.”

(in regards to the teams’ fatigue):
“I think we’re a little tired, but it is part of this time of year for college basketball.”

(in regards on how New Mexico played overall):
“In the first half I thought we played poorly. I thought we were light on our offense. At the beginning of the second half, I felt comfortable that we were defending well and then we substituted again and guys turned it over. All of sudden Alcorn could play free and loose and that is not how we want to defend.

Alcorn State Head Coach Sameul West
Opening Statement:
“We played with a lot of integrity and a lot of poise. I am just so proud of my kids and how they played. This was the first time all year that they played the kind of basketball I wanted them to play.”

(Regarding their (Alcorn State) record for the season)
“It depends on how you look at it. We’ve been from Tampa to L.A. That is the life of royalty and my kids hold a 3.0 G.P.A overall. When we are away from home we stay in the finest of hotels and we fly first class; you can’t beat this. This is great. I miss my wife and children, but they know my job.”

(In regards to in the beginning of the game both teams were stale in play)
“I think we caused them to be stale. That is the way we have been playing all year. We do not score a lot of points the first half. We scored our average the first half. Take the free-throws back, take the calls back, and a couple a three-pointers by number 1 (Kellen Walter) and it is a tie game. I am proud of my kids, they did a great job.”
