IRVINE, Calif. – The University of New Mexico’s swim and dive team is currently still in eleventh place with a total of 211.5 points at the Speedo Cup Invitational, hosted by the University of California-Irvine, today. Stanford continues to lead the way with a total of 1176.5 points over the past two day’s events.

The top swimmer for the Lobos was senior Robyn Miller who earned the best individual finish of all Lobos in today’s events. Miller placed eighth in the 400-yard individual medley with a final time of 4:35.00. This time marks the best finish of the season for Miller in this event. Sophomore Andrea Zarins took 13th in the same event and sophomore Ashley LaBree finished in the 22nd spot. Sophomore Tori Clarridge had a 14th place finish in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 58.76, another personal best for the season. In the 100-yard butterfly, freshman Kristen Naber took 28th which was the best finish for the Lobos in this event. Junior Jen Hale was close behind coming in 29th out of 111 competitors in the event. Sophomore Rachel Evans placed 26th in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:09.25. With 129 competitors in the 200-yard freestyle Hale took 31st, senior Kelsey Leckovic placed 49th, senior Cassidy Lespreance and junior Kelly Soldow came in 57th and 58th, respectively. The Lobo’s “A” team had a 12th place finish in the 200-yard medley relay with at time of 1:51.53 and they also placed 7th in the 800-yard freestyle relay with a final time of 7:49.57.

The Lobos wrap up competition at the Speedo Cup Invite tomorrow with the 1650-yard freestyle, 200-yard back, 100-yard free, 200-yard breast, 200-yard fly and the 400-yard free relay, respectively. For up-to-date scores and information visit UC-Irvine’s official website.
