ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Seniors David Chiotti and Mark Walters scored in double figures to lead New Mexico to a 71-53 exhibition victory over Seattle Pacific, Saturday night at The Pit. Chiotti led the team with 20 points while Walters finished the game with 17.

New Mexico’s Kris Collins and Darren Prentice each notched the third highest points for the Lobos, both adding seven points to UNM’s win. Prentice was also 2-of-3 from beyond the arc.

In the game, the Lobos struggled from the free throw line, shooting 15 for 29 for 51.7 percent. The first half saw New Mexico make four of its 11 free throw attempts while in the second half, 11 were made from behind the line out of 18 tries.

Seattle Pacific’s leading scorer was Jeff Knudson with 11 points. Knudson was also a perfect 8-of-8 from the free throw line.

The Lobos will kick off their regular season Friday, Nov. 18 at The Pit as they face South Carolina State in the first game of the Jim Thorpe Classic. Tip off is set for 6 p.m. (MST).
