University of New Mexico men’s soccer player Jeff Rowland was named the Brine Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Player of the Week following the Lobos’ win over UNLV on Saturday. Rowland, a 2005 Hermann Trophy Candidate, scored a goal and an assist in UNM’s 4-0 win over the Rebels. This is Rowland’s second MPSF Player of the Week honor this season and the third of his career.

Rowland leads the team and the MPSF with 26 points on 12 goals and two assists. He is currently 12th in the NCAA in scoring and eight in the nation in goals. The Lobos are ranked No. 2 in this week’s NSCAA Top-25 and have posted a 12-1-1 record in 2005. UNM trails San Jose State (10-4-2, 6-1-0 MPSF) in the conference race, having lost their only game of the season to the Spartans.

New Mexico will get a chance at revenge against San Jose State on Friday, Nov. 4, at 8:00 p.m. (M.S.T.) in San Jose, Calif. New Mexico’s final home weekend begin Friday, Nov. 11, at 7:00 p.m. (M.S.T.) at the UNM Soccer Complex against Denver.
