PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. – The University of New Mexico No. 3 duo of Iva Gersic and Maja Kovacek remain undefeated after capturing a win against Zsuzsanna Fodor and Suzi Babos from California, 8-5 in the quarterfinals at the Riviera/ITA All-American Championships.
Kovacek and Gersic will have a rematch against Christian Thompson and Catrina Thompson from Notre Dame in the semifinals Saturday. Last year the UNM duo met the Thompson sisters in the doubles semifinal round resulting in a tough loss, 9-8.
In singles action, Kovacek had a tough loss in the consolation quarterfinals by No. 18 Bianca Dulgheru from Pepperdine, 6-1, 1-6, 7-6.
