TULSA, Okla. – Sophomore Max Jones, ranked No. 97th nationally, started the Polo Ralph Lauren All-American Championships off on the right foot, getting a 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 win over over Alabama’s Javier Bes in the Round of 128 at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.
With the win, Jones is set to play 15th-seeded Sander Koning of Clemson, ranked No. 64, tomorrow in the Round of 64. Jones will also play with sophomore Kamil Pajkowski in the Round of 64 doubles tomorrow. The duo is set to face Indiana State’s Simon Thornewill and Anton Tsymbalov. If Jones and Pajkowski win, they could play Mountain West Conference rivals Shannon Buck and Trevor Johnson of Air Force, who are seeded 9th and ranked 42nd, in the Round of 32.
