The University of New Mexico women’s golf team shot the low score of the day, but it was not enough to overtake Baylor in the final round of the Ptarmigan/Ram Fall Classic being played at the Ptarmigan Country Club in Fort Collins, Colo. The Lobos, who started the day 18 shots behind the Bears, could only make up three shots. UNM finished second at 874 after firing a 4-over 292 today. Baylor won by 15 shots with a 54-hole total of 5-under 859.
This is UNM’s first tournament of the 2005-06 season.
Lobo junior Ashley Rollins shot a final round 69 (3-under) to finish in fourth place at 2-under 214. Freshman Mikaela Backstedt tied for 10th at 2-over 218 followed by fellow Swedish freshman Py Bengtsson in 14th place at 4-over 220.
Sophomore Alexandra Phelps (224, +8, T21st) and sophomore Giselle Claux (227, +11, T33rd) closed out the scoring for the Lobos.
