ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Seniors Robyn Miller and Kelsey Leckovic and sophomore Tori Clarridge each had two victories over Wyoming on Saturday afternoon at the Seidler Natatorium. Miller, Leckovic and Clarridge won individual events before teaming to win the 200-yard freestyle relay as New Mexico fell 149-94.

Miller solidified the first UNM win in the 400-yard individual medley (4:36.63). Leckovic took first in the 100-yard free (54.30) followed by Clarridge grabbing the victory in the 100-yard backstroke (59.06). These three teammates along with freshman Summer Abt ended the thirteen-event meet with the first place finish in the 200-yard free relay.

Sophomore diver Carrie Quinn sealed the second place spot in the 1-meter dive (246.45). Other second place finishes included junior Jenna Syverson in the 50-yard free, freshman Kristen Naber in the 100-yard butterfly and sophomore Rachel Evans in the 100-yard breaststroke. Miller, on top of her two first place finishes, took second in the 500-yard free.

The meet opened with a third place finish from UNM in the 200-yard medley relay. The team was comprised of juniors Katy Vandam, Jen Hale and Syverson along with Evans. Both Leckovic and Clarridge had third place finishes, Leckovic in the 200-yard free and Clarridge in the 50-yard free. Junior co-captain Kelly Soldow also took third in the 100-yard free. Sophomore Andrea Zarins placed third in the 100-yard breast. Rounding out the third place finishers was freshman Blakely Stephens with her first top-three placing of her career in the 100-yard back.

Quinn took fourth in the 3-meter dive against a very tough Wyoming diving squad.

“We had the same times when we competed against Wyoming last January, so that shows we are already ahead of where we were last year,” head coach Tracy Ljone said. “Over all it was a great weekend with great swims from the new freshmen. We had solid swims for this time of year.”

The Lobos (0-2) will be back in action Nov. 4-5 when they host the Lobo Invitational in the Seidler Natatorium. Teams competing in this invite will include Colorado State, Northern Arizona, NMSU and Northern Colorado.
