PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif.- Despite losing in the first round of the main singles draw at the Riviera/ITA Women’s Tennis Championships, No. 30 Maja Kovacek bounced back with a big win over No. 12 Zsuzsanna Fodor (California) 4-6, 7-5, 6-3 in the consolation round of 16.
Kovacek is set to play in the consolation quarterfinals against another highly ranked player in No. 18 Bianca Dulgheru from Pepperdine later today.
After her singles match, Kovacek will join teammate Iva Gersic in the quarterfinals of the doubles main draw. There, the No. 3 UNM tandem will play Suzi Babos and Fodor from California.
