ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The University of New Mexico women’s tennis team finished its final day at the Lobo Fall Invitational with five singles wins, including junior Iva Gersic’s first place finish in flight A singles.

Gersic defeated Colorado’s Monica Milewski 7-5, 3-6, 6-4 in the final round of the singles flight. On Saturday, Gersic also captured a first place finish in doubles with teammate Maja Kovacek.

UNM freshmen Mackenzie White and Maria Sotirchos also had singles wins for the Lobos. White placed fifth overall in her singles flight after defeating Colorado’s Jenny Hanson 6-0, 6-1. Sotirchos placed seventh with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Georgie Mills of Northern Arizona.

Junior Nora Quintal and sophomore Jennifer Ryba captured singles victories of their own with Quintal beating Colorado’s Veera Nurmi 0-6, 6-4, 6-4 for ninth place honors and Ryba placing 11th after defeating Colorado’s Martina Sedivec 3-6, 6-0, 6-3.

New Mexico will be on the road for the remainder of its fall season. Next weekend, the Lobos are in Berkeley, Calif. to participate in the Cal Berkeley Nike Invitational, Sept. 30-Oct. 2.
