ARDMORE, Pa. – Senior Jay Choi of the University of New Mexico men’s golf team continues to play well as he won his second round match of the 105th U.S. Amateur this morning to advance to the round of 16. Choi went 1-up on the second hole and never trailed the entire match. The front nine went back and forth with Choi never getting more then a 1-up lead until the ninth when he broke through for a 2-up lead. Choi then controlled the back nine getting to a 4-up lead to win the match over Ryan Baum 4 and 3.
The remaining 16 players at the U.S. Amateur will play one more match this afternoon. Choi is scheduled to tee-off at 12:15 p.m. (MST) and will play Anthony Kim.
