ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – New Mexico swimming head coach Tracy Ljone announced the hiring of Leslie Smith as the new assistant swim coach today. Smith, a four-year letterwinner in swimming at the University of North Carolina-Wilmington, has spent the last two years as a graduate assistant at Duquesne University.
At Duquesne, a member of the Atlantic 10 Conference, Smith worked with the men’s and women’s swim teams while pursuing her Masters Degree in Liberal Studies.
Smith graduated from UNC-Wilmington with a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication Studies and a minor in German. She received the Student Athlete Leadership Award and was the vice president of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee. Smith was also a four-time Carolina Athletic Association Scholar Athlete and Seahawk Academic Award recepient.
