VANCOUVER, B.C. – Sophomore Kamil Pajkowski (Burnaby, B.C./Burnaby HS) and freshman Graeme Kassautzki (Vancouver, B.C.) competed in the Odlum Brown Vancouver Open at Hollyburn Country Club July 30-31.

Kassautzki advanced out of the Qualifying Round of 32 with a come-from-behind 2-6, 6-3, 6-4 win over the USA’s Kiantki Thomas. He fell in the Round of 16 despite winning the first set against Japan’s Toshihide Matsui 6-2. Matsui took the match, 2-6, 7-5, 6-0.

Pajkowski took the first set in his opening match but couldn’t hold on, falling 3-6, 6-2, 6-0 to the USA’s Jason Marshall.

The UNM teammates also competed in doubles, but lost in their first match, 7-5, 6-2, to Thomas and Brian Wilson.

The Odlum Brown Vancouver Open is one of Canada’s top three pro events. It combines a unique partnership between Tennis Canada, ATP Tour, United States Tennis Association and the International Tennis Federation. The tournament, hosted at Hollyburn Country Club, will attract over 140 professional players from around the globe. The tournament is a $100,000 US ATP men’s world ranking draw.
