As the 2005 Lobo football season approaches, UNM athletics department staff are in the middle of a blitz campaign of their own with a goal of selling more than 18,000 season tickets. Athletics Director Rudy Davalos has challenged every department employee to help the cause and sell season tickets to family, friends and neighbors.
In previous years, the UNM ticket and marketing departments have been primarily responsible for selling season tickets. A school- record 15,801 tickets were sold in 2004. After three consecutive bowl appearances and recent upgrades to University Stadium, Davalos established a lofty goal of 18,000 season tickets and realized the importance of having the entire department be part of the selling process.
“Coach Rocky Long, his staff and players have put together a great product for the state of New Mexico to enjoy. There is no reason we shouldn’t have 18,000 season ticket holders,” said Davalos.
If they haven’t received information already, people throughout the state should expect to be contacted by athletics department employees during the July Blitz. Department officials are offering a special ticket price of 10% off season tickets in the Cherry section during this promotion. Plus, all season ticket holders will receive weekly emails from members of the team.
The Lobos return 17 starters from last year’s team that finished 7-5 and in second place in the Mountain West Conference. Included in that total is 38 players from New Mexico. UNM averaged a school-record 37,282 fans a game in 2004 and have five exciting home games in 2005. Season tickets start at only $65 ($59 with the July Blitz discount) for adults and $32 for youths.
Season tickets are on sale at the UNM ticket office at The Pit, by calling 925-LOBO or through the Lobo athletics web site at www.GoLobos.com.
Additionally, the UNM athletics department has set dates and times for the following special events:
