Two members of the University of New Mexico Ski Team earned spots on the 2005 ESPN The Magazine CoSIDA Academic All-District VI At-Large team today. Senior Martina Stursova earned her third academic all-district honor while sophomore Lars Loeseth was a first time member.

Stursova is a three-time All-American Nordic skier at UNM and a two-time Academic All-American. She placed third in both the freestyle and classic races at the 2005 NCAA Championships and led UNM to three straight team titles in the women’s freestyle event. A native of Ploicka, Czech Republic, Stursova has a 3.97 grade-point-average as a Biology major.

Loeseth is a two-time All-American Alpine skier at UNM. He finished seventh in the slalom and fifth in the giant slalom at the 2005 NCAA Championships. He was the top-ranked slalom skier in the Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate Ski Association last season, winning the NCAA West Regional. Loeseth has a 3.99 g.p.a. in General Management.

Both of these Lobos are now eligible for Academic All-American consideration. If Stursova wins, it will be the third time she has been honored.
