COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Seniors David Kowalski and Ryan Stotland battled with the best in the opening round of the NCAA Doubles Championships in College Station, Texas and lost 6-7 (3), 7-6 (2), 6-4 to top-seeded John Isner and Antonio Ruiz of Georgia Thursday afternoon.

Stotland and Kowalski, ranked 14th in the nation, were in it until the very end as they were tied 4-4 in the third and final set. The duo finishes their season 24-8 overall and with honors on the Mountain West Conference all-singles and doubles teams.

Kowalski and Stotland have also completed their careers are New Mexico but will leave a lasting impression on the program for years to come. They were the first doubles team to ever make it to the championship game of a national tournament, falling 9-7 in the finals of the ICY HOT/ITA All-American Championships held in Chattanooga, Tenn. in Oct. They also earned the highest ranking for a doubles team ever in UNM’s history, placing as high as third to start the spring season. Both Kowalski and Stotland also place in the top-10 for career singles and doubles wins.
