LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech defeated the New Mexico baseball team, 10-2, Tuesday night at Dan Law Field. The Lobos (19-23) return to conference action with a three-game series at Isotopes Park this weekend against Utah. All games will be broadcast on KDEF 1150 AM and www.GoLobos.com; live stats of all games will also be available at www.GoLobos.com.

The Lobos took a quick 1-0 lead with a run in the first. Garrick Haymore nailed a one-out double, and was driven in on a Daniel Stovall double two batters later.

The lead was short lived however, as Texas Tech (26-14) plated three in the bottom of the first. Tech built an 8-1 lead with three runs in the fourth and two in the fifth.

The Red Raiders chased UNM starter Tyler Cales (0-1) after four innings. In his first career start, Cales gave up six runs on five hits while striking out three and walking six.

New Mexico scored its second run of the game in the top of the seventh. Ian Hollick led off with a walk and advanced to second on a pinch-hit bunt single by Matt Foote. Ryan Barba then loaded the bases with a single, and Hollick scored on a Jordan Pacheco sacrifice fly.

Tech halted any momentum the Lobos had as Brent Thomas hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the seventh. Thomas finished the game 2-for-2 with four RBI.
