LAS VEGAS, Nev. – UNLV designated hitter Matt Fry hit a two-out, bases loaded game-winning single in the bottom of the 10th to propel the Rebels past the New Mexico baseball team, 16-15, Sunday afternoon at Earl E. Wilson Stadium. The Lobos couldn’t hold a 14-8 lead as the Rebels scored six times on the bottom of the eighth to send the game into extra innings. UNM falls to 19-22 (9-9 Mountain West) for the season, while UNLV improves to 20-22 (14-4 MWC). New Mexico returns to action Tuesday, April 26 to face Texas Tech in Lubbock at 5:30 p.m. MT.

The Lobos scored the first run in the extra frame to take a 15-14 lead. Ian Hollick led off with a single, advanced to second on a balk, and went to third on a Jeff Grady sacrifice. He came home to score on a wild pitch by Kyle Tabeek.

Jordan Pacheco, who did it all at the plate with four hits, three runs and three RBI, came on to close the game in the bottom of the 10th. JC Sibley led off the inning with a single, and after a popout, advanced to third on a Zeke Parraz single. Pacheco (0-1) then got the next batter to pop up for the second out, but a Lobo error on the next play prolonged the inning and plated Sibley. After a walk loaded the bases, Fry delivered his game-winning single.

Down 14-8, UNLV rallied for six runs in the bottom of the eighth to tie the game. Justin Tellam hit a two-run homer, Sibley tallied a two-run double and Chris Bonnell nailed a RBI single in the comeback effort. Sibley went 6-for-7 with three RBI in the game.

UNM took the six-run lead with a dominant offensive attack at the plate. The Lobos collected 21 hits in the game, including four by Garrick Haymore and three by Daniel Stovall. Haymore also had three RBI and scored three times.

UNLV went up 4-1 after two innings, and held the lead until New Mexico plated six in the fifth to take a 7-4 lead.

Vegas scored four in the bottom half of the fifth to reclaim the lead at 8-7, but the Lobos bounced back with four in the sixth and three in the seventh to go up 14-8. Chris Carlson, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, hit a two-run blast in the sixth. Jeff Grady hit his team-leading 11th homer of the season with a solo shot in the seventh, followed by a two-run homer by Pacheco two batters later.
