LAS VEGAS, Nev. – Freshman Jordan Pacheco went 4-for-5 with three runs scored, but the Lobo baseball team still came up short to UNLV, 20-11, Saturday afternoon in the second game of a three-game series at Earl E. The Lobos (19-21, 9-8 Mountain West) jumped on the Rebels early with two runs in the first, including a leadoff a homer by Pacheco. UNM added one in the third and one in the fourth to go up 4-0, but UNLV trimmed the lead to 4-2 with two runs in the bottom half of the fourth.
The Rebels (19-22, 13-4 MWC) broke the game open with eight runs in the sixth, four in the seventh and six in the eighth.UNM rallied for three in the eighth and four in the ninth, but it wasn’t enough to overcome UNLV’s lead.
Chris Carlson went 2-for-3 with two runs for the Lobos.Zeke Parraz was the star for UNLV, going 4-for-6 with eight RBI.
