BRYAN, Texas – The No. 5 University of New Mexico men’s golf team is currently tied for first place after the opening two rounds of the 14-team Aggie Invitational. The Lobos shot a first round 2-under par 286 on the par-72, 7,146 yard, Traditions Golf Course to lead by four strokes. In the second round of the day UNM shot a 6-over par 294 to fall into a tie with No. 1 Oklahoma State (290-290=580) at 4-over par for the tournament.

Individually junior Spencer Levin led the Lobos with rounds of 67 and 69 in the first two rounds to sit at 8-under par (67-69=136). Levin has a four shot lead over Jeff Bell of Texas entering tomorrow’s final round.

Sophomore Charlie Beljan also is in the top-10 tied for fifth at 2-under par (71-71=142) with back-to-back rounds of 71. Other UNM results are senior Madalitso Muthiya (74-78=152), junior Jay Choi (74-78=152) and senior Miguel Griego (76-76=152) are all tied for 38th at 8-over par.
