The 12th-ranked New Mexico women’s golf team is tied for sixth place in the PING/Arizona State Invitational after shooting a 15-over 303 in the first round Friday afternoon at the Karsten Golf Course. No. 2 UCLA leads the 17-team field with a 3-over 291.

Ashley Rollins and Christina Spence each carded a 2-over 74 to lead the Lobos in the first round. Both are tied for 10th place.

Christine Fernandez is tied for 40th after shooting a 77 (+5), while Kailin Downs is tied for 51st with a 78 (+6). The fifth starter, Alexandra Phelps, is tied for 75th after carding a 9-over 81.

Playing as an individual, Giselle Claux shot a 14-over 86.
