ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The New Mexico baseball team slugged out 19 hits in defeating Savannah State, 16-5, Saturday night at Isotopes Park. The Lobos even their record at 9-9 for the season, while the Tigers fall to 12-7. The series finale is set for Sunday at 11 a.m.

For the second straight night, the Lobos jumped all over the Tigers early. UNM scored three runs in the first, two in the second, three in the third and four in the fourth to take a commanding 12-1 lead. The Lobos added one in the seventh on a Chris Dabbs RBI single and three in the eighth on RBI hits by Brandon Bingham and Ian Hollick.

Jordan Pacheco extended his hitting streak to 14 games by going 4-for-4 with a triple and four runs scored. Chris Carlson continued his hot hitting, going a perfect 3-for-3 with a double, triple and four RBI. Dabbs also collected three hits for UNM.

Ryan Barba nailed his first homer of the season in the third, delivering a two-run blast deep past the left-field fence.

Danny Ray Herrera (2-1) earned his second win of the season by pitching five strong innings, allowing three runs, two earned, on four hits and five strikeouts.
