BLYTHEWOOD, S.C. — The 13th-ranked New Mexico women’s golf team continues to lead the Gamecock Classic after two rounds after shooting a 25-over 313 in Saturday’s second round at the par-72, 5,966-yard University Club Golf Course. For the tournament, the Lobos are 308-313–621 (+45). UNM leads No. 14 LSU by four shots.
Senior Kailin Downs moved into a tie for first place after carding a 1-over 73 on Saturday. Downs, who is tied with South Carolina’s Caroline Rominger, is 4-over (75-73–148) heading into Sunday’s final round.
Freshman Alexandra Phelps is also in the top 10, sitting in a tie for seventh with a 12-over 156 (77-79).
Senior Christina Spence is tied for 13th with a 15-over 159 (78-81) and sophomore Ashley Rollins is tied for 29th with an 18-over 162 (82-80).
Junior Christine Fernandez is 22-over with a 78-88–166 and is in a tie for 45th.
