The University of New Mexico women’s basketball team concludes a three game road trip on Saturday at BYU. The Lobos are 19-3 overall and 8-1 in the MWC, while BYU is 15-8 on the season and 6-4 in the conference. Tip-off is set for 2:00 P.M. at the Marriott Center and can be heard live on KNML 610 AM.
TONIGHT’S GAME:Tonight’s game features the Lobos of the University of New Mexico visiting the Cougars of Brigham Young University in a Mountain West Conference matchup.
SCOUTING NEW MEXICOThe Lobos enter tonight’s game with a 19-3 record and 8-1 in the MWC with losses to No. 7 Texas (75-56), No.11 Minnesota (75-35) and UNLV (63-60) and wins at New Mexico State (57-44) and Oklahoma State (60-56) and home wins over Missouri (67-58), Gonzaga (76-54), Bowling Green (73-43), San Diego (58-50), No. 23 Arizona State (61-45), New Mexico State (56-27), San Francisco (63-52), Morgan State (101-22), Utah Valley State (69-29), Air Force (72-58), BYU (64-51), Utah (61-55), San Diego St. (72-53), Wyoming (62-49), Colorado State (75-49), Air Force (77-69) and Utah (70-63). New Mexico’s leading scorer on the season is freshman Dionne Marsh at 11.4 ppg., followed by senior Lindsey Arndt at 10.0 ppg. Arndt also leads the Lobos in rebounding at 6.1 rpg. and senior Mandi Moore leads UNM in assists at 5.3 apg.
SCOUTING BYU:The Cougars enter the contest 15-8 overall and 6-4 in the MWC with wins over Southern Utah 76-56, Nevada 81-64, Portland 70-35, George Washington 76-70, Southeast Missouri State 62-52, USC 76-73, Weber State 63-46, Montana State 80-42, Portland State 77-50, Colorado State 74-54, Air Force 75-66, San Diego State 62-49, UNLV 74-48, Colorado State 59-47 and Air Force 71-51 and losses to Arizona 81-64, Hawaii 56-44, Vanderbilt 86-47, Wright State 64-56, Wyoming 74-63, New Mexico 64-51, Utah 61-53 and Wyoming 75-56. The Cougars are led in scoring by Julie Sullivan at 11.0 ppg. Leading BYU in rebounding is Danielle Cheesman at 8.4 rpg and Sullivan leads the team in assists at 3.7 apg.
