The University of New Mexico women’s basketball team will continue it’s three game road trip on Sunday at Utah. The Lobos enter the contest 18-3 overall and 7-1 in the MWC, while the Utes are 18-5 on the season and 7-1 in the conference. Tip-off is scheduled for 3:10 P.M. and can be seen live on ESPN2 or heard on KNML 610 AM.
TONIGHT’S GAME:Tonight’s game features the Lobos of the University of New Mexico visiting the Utes of the University of Utah in a Mountain West Conference matchup.
SCOUTING NEW MEXICO:The Lobos enter tonight’s game with a 18-3 record and 7-1 in the MWC with losses to No. 7 Texas (75-56), No.11 Minnesota (75-35) and UNLV (63-60) and wins at New Mexico State (57-44) and Oklahoma State (60-56) and home wins over Missouri (67-58), Gonzaga (76-54), Bowling Green (73-43), San Diego (58-50), No. 23 Arizona State (61-45), New Mexico State (56-27), San Francisco (63-52), Morgan State (101-22), Utah Valley State (69-29), Air Force (72-58), BYU (64-51), Utah (61-55), San Diego St. (72-53), Wyoming (62-49), Colorado State (75-49) and Air Force (77-69). New Mexico’s leading scorer on the season is freshman Dionne Marsh at 11.3 ppg., followed by senior Lindsey Arndt at 10.0 ppg. Arndt also leads the Lobos in rebounding at 6.2 rpg. and senior Mandi Moore leads UNM in assists at 5.4 apg.
SCOUTING UTAHThe Utes enter the contest 18-5 overall and 7-1 in the MWC with wins over Georgetown 63-57, Hawaii 52-45, Idaho 57-50, Utah Valley State 88-66, Washington 64-56, Weber State 66-59, TCU 85-72, Loyola Marymount 56-33, IPFW 62-42, Montana 68-42, Northern Colorado 85-35, Colorado State 68-50, Wyoming 67-49 Air Force 97-47, BYU61-53, UNLV63-55, San Diego State 65-52 and Wyoming 82-79 and losses to Stanford 63-57, Michigan State 56-54, Oklahoma 72-59, Gonzaga 66-60 and New Mexico 61-55. The Utes are led in scoring by Kim Smith at 17.2 ppg. Smith also leads Utah in rebounding at 9.7 rpg, while Shona Thorburn leads the team in assists at 6.6 apg.
