PALOS VERDES, Calif. — The No. 8 New Mexico women’s golf team is in a tie for seventh place heading into the final round of the 2005 Regional Challenge after shooting a 25-over 309 in the second round of tournament Tuesday afternoon. The Lobos are at 303-309–612 (+44) after two rounds, tying them with No. 6 Washington. No. 10 Pepperdine leads the 14-team field, which features 13 teams ranked in the top 25, with a 24-over 592 (296-296).

Senior Kailin Downs continues to lead the Lobos with a score of 8-over 150 (72-78), which is good for a tie in 20th place. Duke’s Brittany Lang heads the field of individuals with a 2-under 140 (68-72).

Junior Christine Fernandez shot the best round of the day for UNM on Tuesday, carding a 1-over 72. Overall, she moved up 33 spots and is now tied for 23rd with a 79-72–151 (+9).

Sophomore Ashley Rollins is in 36th place with a 12-over 154 (77-77) and redshirt freshman Giselle Claux is in 54th place with a 15-over 157 (75-82).

Senior Christina Spence is at 26-over (81-87–168) to round out the starters for UNM.
