The University of New Mexico women’s basketball team will begin a three game road trip on Thursday, when they travel to Colorado Springs to play the Air Force Academy. The Lobos enter the game 17-3 overall and tied for first in the MWC at 6-1, while the Falcoms are 7-13 on the season and 2-5 in the conference. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Thursday at Clune Arena and can be heard live on KNML 610 AM.
TONIGHT’S GAME:Tonight’s game features the Lobos of the University of New Mexico visiting the Falcons of the Air Force Academy in a Mountain West Conference matchup.
SCOUTING NEW MEXICO:The Lobos enter tonight’s game with a 17-3 record and 6-1 in the MWC with losses to No. 7 Texas (75-56), No.11 Minnesota (75-35) and UNLV (63-60) and wins at New Mexico State (57-44) and Oklahoma State (60-56) and home wins over Missouri (67-58), Gonzaga (76-54), Bowling Green (73-43), San Diego (58-50), No. 23 Arizona State (61-45), New Mexico State (56-27), San Francisco (63-52), Morgan State (101-22), Utah Valley State (69-29), Air Force (72-58), BYU (64-51), Utah (61-55), San Diego St. (72-53), Wyoming (62-49) and Colorado State (75-49). New Mexico’s leading scorer on the season is freshman Dionne Marsh at 10.5 ppg., followed by senior Lindsey Arndt at 10.3 ppg. Arndt also leads the Lobos in rebounding at 6.4 rpg. and senior Mandi Moore leads UNM in assists at 5.4 apg.
SCOUTING AIR FORCE:The Falcons enter the contest 7-13 overall and 205 in the conference with wins over UC Davis 75-61, Portland 68-61, Northern Colorado 67-62, Navy 72-62, Regis 72-52, San Diego State 48-44 and Wyoming 69-66 and losses to Montana State 74-73, New Mexico State 53-42, Albany 86-65, Utah State 72-68, Illinois State 89-70, Boise State 47-35, San Diego 80-78, Army 60-53, New Mexico 72-58, Utah 97-47, BYU 75-66, UNLV 76-51 and Colorado State 63-42. Air Force is led in scoring by Alecia Steele at 11.6 ppg. Steele also leads AFA in rebounding at 6.9 rpg., while Lauren Henderson leads them in assists at 4.8 apg.
