Post Game Notes
Feb. 5, 2005
New Mexico improves to 17-5 overall and 4-3 in the
Mountain West Conference with its 55-47 victory at
Colorado State…the Lobos are tied with Wyoming for 3rd
place in the league…UNM plays at Wyoming Monday night
UNM snaps a 22-game losing streak in MWC road games and it
was a 25-game skid if you include the past 3 seasons
(losses) in the MWC Tournament…the last win had been on
Jan. 28, 2002, also at Colorado State, by a score of 70-64
New Mexico is now 3-4 on the road this season, the most
wins away from home since the 2000-01 team was 4-8…the
Lobos are averaging 64.4 points on the road compared to 80
points in 15 home games
Sophomore Ryan Wall, who came into the game having scored
just 9 points on the season, came off the bench to score a
career-high 12, which also led the team…he was just 1 of
15 from 3-point in his career coming in, but hit 2 of 4
against the Rams…Wall also had 2 assists and 2 steals
The Lobos shot a season-low 31% (17-55) from the floor,
including just 7 of 27 (26%) from 3-point…however, UNM
allowed a season-low 47 points and the Rams’ 29.8% (17-57)
shooting from the field is the lowest by an opponent this
season
Although he was just 3 of 14 from the field, senior Danny
Granger recorded his 9th double-double of the season with
11 points and 10 rebounds…it’s the 16th d-d of his Lobo
career and 27th as a collegiate performer
New Mexico is now 17-2 this season when Granger plays, 0-3
when he doesn’t
Led by Wall, the UNM bench contributed 26 of the team’s 55
points…Alfred Neale added 10 while Bombale Osby and Tony
Danridge each had 2
The Lobos tied a season-low with 8 turnovers…they also had
8 against Tennessee
UNM’s last field goal came with 5:29 left in the game, a
basket by Mark Walters that provided the Lobos with their
largest lead at 48-38…the Rams cut it to 48-45, but New
Mexico made 7 of 8 FTs down the stretch to seal the win
New Mexico scored 22 points in the 1st half, the lowest
total of any half this season
The Lobos started 2 of 3 from the floor then missed their
next 12 attempts for a 2 of 15 beginning…they went nearly
8 minutes without a point in the 1st half, but never
trailed by more than 5 points (11-6)
Junior post David Chiotti had a career-high 5 steals
